Secret Asian Man
Have been reading Secret Asian Man off and on for the past couple years – it appears in the Northwest Asian Weekly here in Seattle, pretty sure that’s where I first saw it.
In a not far-removed fashion, this strip reminds me of The Boondocks in its prime – often taking on race issues front and center – although the main character, Osamu Takahashi, seems a lot nicer than Huey was most days (Huey was effectively the suburban ‘second coming of Malcolm X‘ – we miss ya!) – “Sam” is quite a bit older (Huey was only 10 after all) and has a family too. Simon here is more like Huey – maybe akin to what Huey would have grown into had he become older. Having been a subscriber to Giant Robot, and fan of Initial D and anime generally for many years, this comic is a good find.
